There are two things about this that I love.  First is being able to talk them through the process, as often, they’re relieved to find that it doesn’t require the generation of half as much paperwork as they think it does!   If the Trainer is already delivering the courses, then chances are that all of the evidence we need to support their application is sitting – ready to go - on their computer.

The second thing I love, is hearing all about the creative ways Trainers are planning to deliver their training.  Will it be Intensive or Modular?  Pure NLP or blended with complimentary topics? Business, Therapeutic, Educational . . . the list is endless.  The joy of creative problem solving to ensure maximum flexibility is maintained whilst meeting quality requirements.  Ah, there’s never a dull day at this desk!

The NLP Professional is about considering the field of NLP as a professional one. It is about making the connections between your actions as a practitioner of NLP, and considering how these can impact on your business.

This book questions some of the current practices in the field, and challenges whther these are ultimately useful if the desired outcome is to raise the profile of NLP and create a profession which has credibility, respect and recognition.

The call came in around 6.30pm Tuesday and Dee Clayton our Marketing Director was invited to the studios opposite the House of Commons Wednesday morning. Of course Dee’s interview was edited down but we were pleased to have the opportunity to raise the awareness and credibility of both NLP and the ANLP.

As a professional organisation the ANLP has a passion for the public and our members to continually develop their communication skills so we always welcome new tools and processes that make this journey even easier when they are used responsibly and with the best of intentions.

We had a telephone enquiry recently from someone looking for an NLP Trainer in a particular location. I talked her through the search process whilst she was on the phone, and we both came up with 12 Trainers in her area for her to choose from.

There are options...and there are options - and I think 12 was too many for her to phone, so she immediately narrowed her choice by eliminating those Trainers who had not added a photo to their profile.

Now this strikes me as being a really good selection strategy...and not if you are one of the 4 Trainers who hasn't got round to updating their ANLP profile with a photo, because you just lost a potential Practitioner delegate on your next course!

If you believe your ANLP Membership is a useful marketing tool, then please do use that tool as effectively as you can - upload a photo onto your profile - its an easy way for you to build visual rapport with your potential clients.

Now that the new website had been launched, Karen decided to take us for a makeover and photo shoot with Tim Spiers to get some pictures to publish on www.anlp.org, our Facebook page, LinkedIn and Twitter. So last Thursday, we all met and drove to Muswell Hill to Tim’s lovely studio.

Driving on the North Circular, my tummy started churning. I really do not like having my picture taken at all! OMG, am I going to have to stand in front of everyone posing? How should I smile? Teeth showing or mouth closed?

Tim sat us all down and individually styled our hair and did our make up; it was quite nice taking some time out to relax! We had already decided that we wanted 3 different looks for the photos. The first was to be very formal and professional ... all suited and booted! The next was smart casual for our social media pages, and the third look was just fun!

Tim made us feel so at ease and comfortable that in no time the pictures were being taken as a group and on our own.

We received the proofs back and they are great! I looked at mine and just cringed ... not because of the pictures that Tim had produced, just because I wish I had smiled more, worn something different, lost about 90 stone, applied for a job working with trolls instead of the gorgeous ladies in the ANLP office.

Attempting to turn this around, I decided to show my pictures to my daughter Paige and my mum. “Mummy, you look beautiful” “I like it when you smile mummy!” “Yes, you definitely get your looks from my side of the family!”

Sometimes there is nothing like the honesty of a 6 year old and the delight of your mother to boost your confidence!

I have decided to book some time with Tim to take pictures of my mum, Paige and I at some point this year. He was so lovely and the pictures are fantastic! I have even passed his details onto some friends getting married in October. Thank you Tim and Karen for a wonderful day :o)

Stop! What the heck am I playing at? You know when you start to notice every little thing that is going wrong more than the things are going right? I hit that wall a few weeks ago. The more I concentrated on the negatives, the more frequently they were occurring which is really contradictive of a conversation I was having with Karen the other day. I’m always asking Karen questions about NLP as they arise and she is always kind enough to explain them to me. I love listening especially to the stories about asking the universe for help and the way in which it responds. Recently I have been experiencing this for myself and it feels wonderful that I actually can control my own destiny and now know that if you want things enough then they will happen. Knowing this, I asked myself “why am I encouraging negative decisions in the physical things that I do?”

I started to break it down into smaller chunks. It was like after everything that I did, I was waiting for the bad thing to happen ... was the universe responding to what I was asking for? I looked at what I needed to do to resolve all the silly situations that I had got myself into and what the problem was. The problem was that I was overwhelming myself with things to do, with everyone elses problems and feelings, not allowing enough time for myself and just physically not having the time to do EVERYTHING!

What I needed was organisation, time management, 5 minutes to just evaluate and prioritise and a massive vodka wouldn’t have gone a miss either! HOLD ON A MINUTE ... I already have all of these skills (and a bottle of vodka in the freezer). I know I do because this is what I am good at! My house is run like an Army Barracks. I have rotas for studying, cleaning, play time with Paige and I write menus, shopping lists, to do lists ... I am an organisation freak! I felt like my skills had turned into massive bowl of cooked spaghetti! I did have them all standing individually in a row like uncooked spaghetti standing tall in its jar waiting to be cooked. But because I had over powered my spaghetti strands with a massive pan of boiling water, I had weakened them and they had mangled together not knowing where one piece started or the next one ended.

That’s exactly how I felt, like my brain was a massive bowl of jumbled up spaghetti! So now that I know that I have the power to correct everything myself, I have taken my spaghetti and have laid it out straight again. I am also back on speaking terms with the universe and from now on am only asking for good things to happen. Oh ... and of course apologies to anyone who may have received a reply to their emails later than expected, the spaghetti mess has been cleared up :o)

Ash and Mark at Sparticle have spent 9 months converting our dreams and ideas into reality and developing the site. When I emailed Ash on Sunday evening (probably for about the 400th time in the last three weeks), I did mention that I was now a little nervous, because it was like 'giving birth'.

And then I realised that we had done everything we could, and we have done our best to deliver something that we can be proud of for many years to come.

So yes, we have now delivered the ANLP website safely into the hands of our Members - its now over to you to create vibrant and engaging content on the forum, in your profiles and via the diary entries, case studies and news.

Let's use our new site to really raise the profile for NLP, ANLP and all of you.

Well, I have now been part of ANLP for 4 months and haven’t yet written a blog and with the new Website launch on Monday … now is a good time to start!

First things first … my name is Claire; I joined ANLP in October 2010 as Membership Co-Ordinator knowing absolutely nothing about NLP! My initial thought honestly was “What the heck am I getting myself in to?” I’m quite open minded really but I had never heard of NLP EVER! In this first 4 months of my NLP journey, I have discovered that some of my friends have heard of NLP, some of my friends practice NLP and my Mother in Law trained as an NLP Master Practitioner in Thailand! Have I been walking around with my head in a sand bucket?

Since starting my new job, I have attended the 2010 NLP Conference and have been on an Introduction Course. I have spoken to some amazing people, have been reading Rapport and some different NLP books and have actually started putting some basic NLP into action in my own personal life. I started to reflect on some past experiences to see if things would have been different had I have known about NLP. I have always been a very positive person and generally I don’t dwell on things especially the past as I believe  that if you’re thinking about the past then you’re not thinking about your future … and I know my future is very exciting because that is what I am going to make it. Does this mean that unconsciously (yeah, I’m using NLP language!) I have known about NLP all along? Definitely something I am going to find out about.

So where to go now? I think that I definitely have to do my NLP Practitioners Certificate sooner rather than later. I think I might explode if I don’t find out some more soon. I can feel the difference in myself already by changing small things in my personal and professional life. What else can I achieve by learning more about NLP? My journey continues …

I've been working on getting everything done in readiness for the new website launch on 14th February, and as that dealine gets closer, my focus improves. And so have my time management skills, my ability to say 'no' and my energy levels!

This reminds me of the importance of 'T' in setting SMART goals - a Time deadline does need to be set and committed to, because once that is in place, it's amazing how focussed and driven one gets.

I am applying this strategy to my New Year resolutions this year, along with all the other elements of SMART goal setting...so let's see how well focussed and on track I stay with those goals as well!

I’ve just taken two calls from members o f the public, both keen to find an accredited course in NLP so they can become NLP Practitioners...in fact one of them was already planning their training schedule right up to NLP Trainer level, and both only wanted an Accredited course.

It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if someone is thinking about investing quite a significant amount of money in training, they do want to reassure themselves as much as they can that their investment will be money well spent.

I know when I am looking for something like that, especially if it is something that I don’t have a great deal of experience in myself, I look for other forms of validation or assurance that what I am choosing is the right choice.

Nowadays, with so much information at our fingertips, thanks to the World Wide Web, I do read reviews before I buy something online...and I do look for those extra assurances like references or accreditation or approval...and sometimes I even check the accrediting body to see what, exactly, had to be done in order to gain that accreditation (sometimes, I discover that paying an additional fee is all that is required!).

People are being cautious right now because of the current circumstances we find ourselves in...so it is really important that we do what we can to stand out from the crowd and give them the reassurance they need to choose our services.

Its such an unfortunate turn of phrase “Curiosity killed the cat”, especially if, like me, you do love cats! I can understand what it means from a literal point of view, especially because I do know something about the scrapes cats can get themselves into, but there is just something so negative about this phrase it seems to issue a warning, albeit with good intention!

I like ‘curiosity’. That’s what helps me grow and discover new things.

The other day I was walking home, and because I hadn’t left it as late as I usually do (!), I had a chance to explore and investigate those alleys and entrances I walk past every day. And do you know what, within minutes I had discovered two cut through paths that have shaved another 3 minutes off my walk home!

So simply by being curious, I have now saved myself an extra 6 minutes every day (there and back) – which is 30 minutes a week, and 1,440 minutes a year – that’s a whole 24 hours per year I’ve gained...so now I will definitely have time to read that extra book I’ve been meaning to read for ages...or perhaps I will just spend an extra 3 minutes enjoying the walk and focussing my mind, ready for the next opportunity to be curious.
