Minimum 120 Hours Attendance Training
Judith Lowe says
There are at least 40 days of possible NLP training at Practitioner level!
The intensive format of a 21 day programme gives you the chance to benefit from a sophisticated, ‘hands-on’ training - in an interactive and lively structure.
NLP is not just information based but requires embodied skills – like skiing or playing a musical instrument. You need a certain level of commitment, coaching and practice to excel.
The 21 day courses allow a full opportunity to integrate skills and knowledge, in depth, – to get the learning ‘in the muscle’ - so you can work with NLP confidently, creatively and ethically.
If you want to further extend your NLP abilities to Masters level – there must be 100 possible days of material here! – then the thorough and wider-ranging courses are usually an appropriate choice – again in terms of acquiring deeper, more systemic, generative approaches ‘beyond techniques’.
These courses are considered to have professional credibility i.e. for eligibility for NLP Business degrees, Therapy, Coaching, etc.
The 20/21 day NLP courses give you what you would expect – added value for your time and money in terms of results - practical, effective skills and tools to take away and apply in real-world situations.

For the first twenty years of NLP the standard recognised length of Practitioner (and Master Practitioner) training was around twenty days. I asked Judith Delozier, one of the original co-developers, why this was. She said it was simply an empirical observation that it took that many days of experiential training to achieve a reasonable level of competence.
The issue of ‘short Practitioner’ courses is contentious. Read more about it in “The Consumers Guide to Choosing NLP Training” on our website, ‘john-seymour-associates.co.uk’, which Judith supports.
Briefly, NLP is basically experiential skills, which are best learned experientially. The level of skills you get is roughly proportional to the days of experiential training provided. There is not yet any compelling evidence that NLP skills can be learned effectively by distance learning technologies of reading, listening and/or watching.
The advantage of our full twenty day training, spread across 6-9 months, with weekly practice groups and daily exercises, is that you learn NLP to the highest professional standard with wider professional recognition. The Professional Guild of NLP, for example, only recognises twenty day trainings. We also provide a flexible course upgrade, often used by students of short courses, to qualify at the twenty day Practitioner standard

Andy Smith says
“Coaching
Leaders uses the `extensive` format - 19 days (125 hours) of training in five modules with four weeks between each.
The benefits of this format include:
- plenty of time for experiential exercises, practice, exploration and discovery
- time to ask questions and clarify your conscious understanding
- time to cover the material in depth, and include some useful extra additions to the core practitioner syllabus.
The modular format gives you a good balance between `immersion` and pacing yourself. Four-day modules give you time to really get into an `NLP`
mindset` without feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of new material.
Because the modules are `long weekends` (Friday to Monday with one Friday to Sunday), you would only need a total of nine working days study leave. Plus the course takes only five months at most from start to certification.
The four weeks between each module give you the opportunity to put what you have learned into practice in the `real world` and to report back on your progress, so your learning transfers out of the training room and embeds itself in your day-to-day life. This helps you to integrate the material at both conscious and unconscious levels.”

“Both Practitioner and Master Practitioner programmes are offered over a period of time and consecutive months, Practitioner either16 days/4 months/136 hours or 20 days/10 months/150 hours; Master Practitioner 18 days/4 months/150 hours.
Both programmes meet University post graduate requirements and offer elements of lecture, seminar or group work, skills development, individual tutorials, practice and independent study.
Offering a training approach that is directly linked to learning outcomes, these programmes of study recognise the attributes of a mature student, and provide a flexible learning process that is responsive to the variety of backgrounds that students will represent. By providing integrated practice between modules, both programmes provide an optimum learning environment for individuals who want to work as coaches, people development consultants or therapists.”

Here is an extract from the ABL Guide to Choosing an NLP course, written by Judy and Paul, and available to download here:
"We haven’t met anyone who became successful with NLP through reading books alone – or even watching videos. That is not to say it is impossible, just that we haven’t found any evidence to suggest otherwise. People who have studied NLP do frequently say that the real learning is experiential, that they may have thought they knew something intellectually, but realised they hadn’t at all when they went the stage further to experience it in a more integrated way.
If you haven’t experienced practical learning like this before, this might seem a bit of a mystery. But in fact NLP is more like learning golf than swotting up the periodic table or learning case law. You can learn about golf in the armchair, but you don’t become an expert without getting out on the course. You can of course still enjoy laughing or shouting at Tiger Woods for missing that shot.
Longer courses do have another significant advantage, and that is the time given between modules to practise and integrate the learning. You have the reassurance of help on the next module with any issues that arise for you as you practise the skills."
So don`t be surprised if your golf swing isn`t quite what you would like it to be because you haven`t given your muscles time to adjust and learn. An intensive experience on one 7-hole course, even with the most entertaining company, can be full of wonder but unless you`ve played on more holes, on more courses, in different weather conditions you may not quite of got the point of NLP yet. But it is a fun sport and even crazy golf can leave you wanting more..."

“Which route to success is right for you?
People are different, right?
They have different personalities, different lifestyles, different jobs, and different preferences for how they take in information.
That’s what makes the world such a rich place.
Well, how you learn NLP may well need to be as different for you from the next person as your hairstyle and your choice of motor car.
Here are a couple of perspectives:
The INLPTA (International NLP Trainers Association) intensive study route:
Ideal for those interested in a full-on experience of personal development that has numerous applications in personal coaching and therapy.
It’s in-depth and comprehensive.
This means at least fifteen days of classroom training to become a certified Practitioner and a further fifteen days, or more, to reach Master Practitioner status.
The Fast-track NLP route:
Often involving less classroom time, certainly involving less therapeutic change-work and sometimes includes pre-course and post-course study as part of the certification process.
Ideal if you want to use your NLP in a more work-oriented setting – leadership, business coaching, sales etc.
Typically, you may have a pre-course programme of reading and/or tapes/CDs followed by six to nine days in the classroom and then a personal project afterwards to achieve your Practitioner certificate.
The “Flexible” route:
Find a trainer that can tailor the programme to suite where you are and can also adapt to the possibility that your curiosity grows and you decide to step across from Fast-track NLP to INLPTA NLP.
Which one is better?
Neither and both!
It’s what you want to DO with your NLP that counts in making your decision.
Ralph Watson, and Dynamic Communication, offers all of them so you can be sure of the quality, effectiveness AND flexibility that you deserve.”

Emma Sargent says
“We run both Practitioner and Master Practitioner trainings.
Practitioner takes place over three modules – 6 days /5 days /5 days, with approximately a month between each and Master Practitioner over two modules, each of 8 days, again with approximately a month between them.
Our group size is never more than fifteen.
One of the key requirements for both Practitioner and Master Practitioner is that participants experience 120 hours training.
The aim is to ensure that at the completion of the training each individual is truly a Practitioner, which means having not only a deep level of understanding, but also the ability to put that understanding to effective use in the world.
Our experience is that people achieve this most effortlessly and effectively by having as much experience as possible of the material and maximum opportunity to practise their new skills and receive immediate feedback and coaching. Hence, the reason that all our training is conducted in a group environment.
The length of the modules and the breaks between them give participants the opportunity to integrate the learning and undertake the interim tasks to which they commit themselves.
Our rationale for our programme design is based on the proven tenet, ‘I hear, I forget; I see, I remember; I do, I understand.”

Rosie O’Hara says
Our Practitioner and Master Practitioner Courses are taught in small groups with a minimum of 1 trainer plus 1 to 2 assistants.
The trainers at NLP Highland have over 60 years of varied NLP experience between them. The trainer age range is from 36 years old to 58.
Our trainers come from all walks of life: Commercial, IT, Computer Programmer, a Scientist, Massage Therapy, Chinese Medicine, Linguists, Mechanical Engineering and more.
120 hour courses, spread out over different time periods - generally one weekend per month over 9 months for Practitioner (with the content required by the Professional Guild of NLP), Master Practitioner is 6 x 3 days weekends with a break in between to allow time for you modelling project, guaranteeing you time to learn, practise and assimilate, certification only awarded when you meet the criteria given, if this doesn`t` happen we let you come back and work with you again until you reach the standard. So time is spent on you as an individual. We also offer some other company and specialised practitioner courses.
We understand what works for people in the North of Scotland and what will work with the people you will be living and working with. We also love to share this environment with people from other areas of the
UK, and why not the world? Come and join use whether you live in
Scotland, the rest of the
UK or
Europe. German speaking participants especially catered for.
Our NLP lineage comes from some of the big NLP names - in the
USA - Richard Bandler - in the
UK - John Seymour, the internationally known NLP trainer and author, as well as less well known, and equally skilled NLP training companies in the
UK.
And you can learn all of these and more in the North of Scotland and learn how to apply them with yourself and others in a learning environment with small numbers. Why not travel to
Aberdeen or Forres and take part in course in one of those locations? The North of Scotland, particularly Forres, is less stress land - where the air is clean, the scenery is wonderful, the people are pleasant, the food and drink are excellent, and travel to
Inverness airport from all points south is becoming easier all the time.
