Karen Falconer is CEO of ANLP International CIC, the independent professional body dedicated to strengthening standards in professional NLP practice. She is also Editor of Rapport Magazine, author of The NLP Professional, a Committee Member of the NLP for Education Project, a certified NLP Trainer and a Professional Certified mBIT Coach.
Karen Falconer has been instrumental in shaping the modern professional landscape of NLP through her leadership of ANLP and her long-standing commitment to ethical standards and professional accountability.
Karen has played a central role in the development and stewardship of ANLP since taking over leadership of the organisation in 2005, making her one of the longest-serving leaders within the professional infrastructure of the NLP field. Under her guidance, ANLP has continued to strengthen its role as an independent professional body supporting responsible, ethical and professionally delivered NLP.
In addition to her work with ANLP, Karen is a founder member of the NLP for Education Project, driven by her desire to get NLP into the foundations of the Education system. Until recently, she served as Chair of Governors for a local primary school and was awarded Hertfordshire Woman of the Year in 2009.
Before taking up her leadership role at ANLP, Karen built a successful career spanning more than twenty years as a management accountant, running her own business providing accounts training for SMEs.
Karen brings together strong business leadership with a deep understanding of the practical application of NLP. Through regular engagement with trainers, practitioners and members of the wider NLP community, she works to ensure ANLP remains responsive to the profession while maintaining clear professional standards.
Reflecting her belief that leadership is ultimately about service, Karen says:
"Leading ANLP means creating the conditions for professional NLP to develop responsibly and sustainably. My role is to support our members, uphold clear standards and ensure that NLP can continue to be delivered professionally to the people and organisations who will benefit from it the most."
Outside of her work with ANLP, Karen is mum to two wonderful (adult) boys, stepmum to two more wonderful (adult) boys, a proud Nonna to two adorable grandchildren, and lives in Derbyshire with her husband, Kash and their pets.
Karen’s leadership of ANLP has often required navigating complex dynamics within the NLP field while maintaining independence, professional integrity and a commitment to ethical standards.
Karen is a great leader in her chosen field. She treads a precarious path and manages to act as host, negotiator, facilitator, arbiter, champion, ethical standard bearer amongst many other roles. She is committed to developing a process for the management of a diverse psychological approach while continuing to uphold her own standards for ANLP, which is to remain the Switzerland of the NLP Community, often in the face of considerable opposition, threats and challenges.
