John Seymour, Personal Background
NLP Training Experience
I have been teaching NLP as a full time professional since 1985. I believe this to be as long as anyone in the UK. With a previous student and apprentice, Joseph O’Connor, I have co-authored one of the most reputable and best-selling NLP books, ‘Introducing Neuro-Linguistic Programming’. We also wrote the first book that attempted to unpack the mysteries of NLP training, ‘Training with NLP’. I have trained NLP for more organisations than I can remember, from blue chips and government departments, to universities and charities. With our training teams I have run many NLP Practitioner, NLP Master Practitioner, and NLP Trainers’ Training courses over twenty years with thousands of satisfied students. We have continually experimented to find out what works best for most students. I have mentored about 20 NLP Master Practitioners through an extended NLP Trainer apprenticeship, many of whom are now NLP ‘names’ in their own right, and one Master Trainer. I am currently mentoring a student through their Ph.D. in applied NLP at Bath University. I believe I am the only person to have ever been appointed ‘National Tutor for NLP’ for Further and Higher Education.
NLP Learning Lineage
I was introduced to NLP by a remarkably talented lady called Liz Mahoney. I trained originally in NLP to Practitioner level with John Grinder in the USA, and to Master Practitioner with Richard Bandler. I have also qualified as an NLP Trainer and NLP Master Trainer. Along the way I have experienced the training styles of most of the ‘big names’ in NLP. I particularly value the two honorary NLP Trainer awards I have been granted, one in the UK, and one from the USA.
Educational Background
B.Sc. in Biological Science and twice qualified as a teacher (Postgraduate Diplomas in Education). Also a trained facilitator holding a Diploma in Theoretical, Experiential and Applied Humanistic Psychology.
