Suzanne Henwood EVP
Suzanne Henwood is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences at Unitec, in Auckland, New Zealand.
Originally from the UK, and with a health care background, Suzanne developed NLP practice for health care practitioners to enable them in turn to develop expert practice, particularly in the fields of leadership and communication (she published some of this work in NLP and Coaching for Health Care Professionals: Developing Expert Practice in 2007).
As a founding member of the NLP Research Conference Committee and an editorial board member of the Research in NLP journal, she continues to seek to push forward the boundaries and particularly the evidence base of NLP practice.
Suzanne has a long background in academia, with expertise in clinical competency assessment and teaching skills assessment in higher education. She has also worked as an overseas assessor for the Health Professions Council in the UK assessing health care staff who wish to transfer their registration to practice to a UK context.
She has been involved in curriculum development and accreditation in an academic setting for many years, at institutional and professional body level, and now leads the development of masters programmes across health care at Unitec, Auckland.
She is also an NLP trainer, with a passion for ethical and values based training. Her current research interests are in the fields of health care leadership, with several projects currently underway looking at different aspects of that and how NLP can be used to enhance leadership development.
Suzanne obtained her PhD in the field of professional development and continues to research how we can most effectively develop people, with measurable outcomes.
She continues to practice NLP, train and coach alongside her role as an Associate Professor.
